Our retainers are fabricated by our orthodontic specialists. In most cases, they were the ones who performed the treatment. They are done by creating a mold or an impression out of the newly-straightened teeth. The retainers will be fabricated out of either an acrylic material or a wire. It will then be inserted in the mouth and must be worn for a number of years.
The teeth are somewhat “unstable” immediately after brace removal. You will need to be fitted with retainers to help provide proper completion of the orthodontics treatment. It is also recommended that you see the dentist for regular cleanings in order to completely remove the left-over adhesives on your teeth. You should also consider having your teeth whitened as noticeable color differences are expected on the areas where the brackets were placed.
