Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Unfortunately, wisdom teeth don't make you wise. In fact, sometimes the wisest thing you can do with wisdom teeth is to have them extracted. At Guerrino Dentistry, we understand that not everyone looks forward to going to the dentist. And when you're talking about extracting teeth, the apprehension can be even worse for many individuals. But with our comfortable setting and caring staff, we will put you at ease and make your wisdom teeth extraction as smooth and painless as possible.

Guerrino Dentistry | Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Dental exams should, of course, be done on a regular basis. But not everyone adheres to this piece of advice. And even if you've taken perfect care of your teeth, when your wisdom teeth come in, all sorts of problems can arise. They can become impacted, crowd the rest of your teeth, and because they are hard to reach, can be subject to developing cavities, even when your other teeth are fine. When you have problems with your wisdom teeth, Guerrino Dentistry, can come to the rescue.

Why Do You Need Wisdom Teeth Extractions?

An oral surgeon or dentist may do a wisdom tooth extraction (pull your wisdom tooth or teeth) if you are experiencing dental problems such as the following:

  • Infection
  • Pain
  • Impacted wisdom tooth
  • Crowding of other teeth
All in all, the actual extraction procedure should take less than an hour, barring any unexpected occurrences.

What Does Guerrino Dentistry Offer For Wisdom Teeth Extractions?

Before your procedure (wisdom teeth extraction) takes place, a thorough exam will be done by one of our dentists. He or she will explain your options, get your dental and health history, answer any questions that you may have, discuss anesthesia, and fill you in on how long the appointment should take, how much time you'll need to take off of work or school, etc. The extraction procedure: The area in question will be numbed (some dentists offer a type of general anesthesia while others simply go with numbing the area). Once complete numbing has taken effect, the tooth will be extracted (removed). In some cases, to get all of the tooth out, bone or gums must be cut. If this happens, dissolving stitches will be placed so that the wound heals quickly. You may also notice that the dentist uses gauze pads to reduce the bleeding.
